Update:

Arsonists attacked several places of worship, including informal mosques in downtown Athens and Jehovah’s Witnesses’ houses of worship in Thessaloniki, Igoumenitsa, and Serres. Police opened investigations in each case, but did not identify the perpetrators.

That is very interesting to see. I thought, Greece was busy with other problems these days ...

Being in poverty, in dire straits, and desperation causes people to extremeties. But of course this is not the main reason of the problem.

The rise of fascism might be the cause. The far right Golden Dawn have 18 MPs and are pro Orthodox.
